NorCham Co-hosts Nordic Innovation Forum on Critical Minerals
On June 11th, policymakers, scientists, and industry executives came together at the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, D.C. for the Nordic Innovation and Sustainability Forum, focused on the theme “Critical Minerals – Supply Chain Opportunities in the U.S.
Norway’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Bård Ivar Svendsen, opened the event by emphasizing the significance of the U.S.–Norway Memorandum of Cooperation on mineral security, and the growing momentum behind transatlantic collaboration in this crucial field.

Keynote speakers included William “Tommy” Joyce, Acting Assistant Secretary for International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, who spoke on DOE’s initiatives to safeguard supply chains, and Sarah Ryker, Acting Director of the U.S. Geological Survey, who highlighted USGS’s vital role in providing data for critical minerals decision-making.
A panel of industry leaders then explored the latest innovations in mineral technology and supply chain resilience, along with the geopolitical, environmental, and commercial challenges their sectors face.
